Ryan's father obviously took badly to this sign of disrespect. Striding towards Cecil he towered over him, maximizing his height with simply a glare. The fact that Cecil was sitting made him seem even taller. As he strode, his wife let go of his arm and kept back, knowing too well what would happen. Dawn grimaced, while Ryan frowned.
"Father, stop it."
"No, son. You have no right to talk to me that way and your..." He spat the next word out as if it hurt him to keep it in his mouth. "mudblood friend has completely no right to ignore me in such a disrespectful way!" Glaring at Cecil, Ryan's father continued as Ryan shouted protests, Dawn tried to catch Cecil's eye, and Ryan's mother kept to the side like an obedient dog. "Do you know who I am?!" Mr Parker shouted.
"Father, stop it. Stop it now!"

Mr Parker swept around, obviously not keen on the way Ryan had just shouted at him. Walking towards the hospital bed he frowned at his son. "Ryan James Parker!" He hissed. "Did you just raise your voice at me?!" He roared then. Ryan glared right back at him, for some reason no longer afraid.
"Yes, I did! Cecil is a friend and you can't go ordering him around. It doesn't matter who you are, bu-"

His next word was cut off as Mr Parker drew back his hand, and slapped him across the face. it left a searing red mark which showed against Ryan's already pale skin. It brought a wnce from Ryan- his face was alreayd bruised, he was already in pain. As he was slapped his mother did nothing, merely watched on. But Dawn strode to his side and glared at his father, slightly fearful.
"Stop it!" She cried out.
"Never, never did I think I'd see the day when a son would stand up to his father, who hasn't ever done anything but love and care for him. I expect it's this, this wrench that has brought this rebellion out in you. When you return home in the holidays son, I expect none of this, and Miss Silverstone, I shall certainly inform your parents about this act of insolence!" Turning around, his dark robes whipping behind him like a cape, he left the room. Ryan's mother cast him a 'you-asked-for-it' look as she trotted after him, leaving Dawn seething, Ryan wincing, and an uneasy atmosphere in the room.

Cecil nearly stood to HIS full height and glaring the man down but he turned to quickly. He gave Ryan an encouraging look behind his parent's backs. Once they left he sighed. "Nice folks...remind me to burn any dinner invitations they accidently send to me." he stated with an uneasy chuckle.

Ryan and Dawn winced as Cecil spoke, in unison. "Yeah. But honestly man, don't- just don't- be rude to him. See Dawn bow and all that crap? She hates him, he's done... bad stuff." Ryan almost whispered this, since he didn't know who could be listening. "You could... die. Ok? So just don't mess with him. I'll talk to him for this so nothing will... happen. But really- don't. For your own bloody sake." Ryan said, meaning every word and looking Cecil straight in the eyes as he spoke. Dawn nodded as he did so, agreeing. Cecil didn't know what he'd just got himself into. Turning to her boyfriend, she winced as the hand-mark still showed. Although she didn't dare do anything in front of Mr. Parker to help Ryan, knowing it wouldn't be allowed, she know caressed the bruise lightly, her eyes moist.
"He's a bloody idiot. He could have harmed you- you're already in a state, you don't need him to go smacking you round the room. He's just so..." She knew the word to use, but didn't dare- not infront of Cecil, who didn't know what Ryan had said about his father. Blinking the tears away Dawn tried to smile.

Cecil shook his head. "Wheter I'm a mudblood or not...I will not return respect unless I receive it. Hell I've had problems with Malfoy's father before...heard he's a death eater to...still don't bloody care what they say might happen to me...that man tries to tell me to 'get out of his way' I'll just keep standing there." he stated, his face hardening.

He'd just narrowly missed frying the man...and was glad for it probably would have been grounds for suspension. He shook his head, not wishing to state the next thought in his mind. He wanted to say 'I don't care if your father is an f'ing death eater' but figured it might not be true...and it would hurt Ryan if he did say something like that...even if it was his father.

Ryan sighed. "No you bloody wouldn't, Cecil. You wouldn't just stand there. Or, you would- but before you know it you'd be writhing in pain with Crucio, or taking your last breath with Kedavra. My father... my father is a powerful..." He tried to find the word. Death Eater? Sure, but anyone could be listening. "a powerful guy. He could have you flat on your back in two seconds, no matter what electric powers you have. You kill one of those kind of people with your powers, no matter. Another twenty would just come along. You see? So even though you don't like bowing or whatever that crap, you might just have to go along with it if it means staying on the good side. Or, the alive side." Ryan said, taking the hand that Dawn wasn't using to sooth his face and holding it, squeezing it a little as he noticed the moisture in her eyes.

Cecil sighed. "I will not humble myself for my own life...if it meant to help someone else I would...but I will not degrade myself just to not be on someone's nutslist. You know me better then that Ryan...I don't lessen myself infront of others unless their is a d**n good reason to." he stated, his eyes seeming to glow in his emotional state. "My life is NOT a good enough reason to degrade myself...my blood may not be 'pure'...but I'm still better then most of the 'pure bloods' in the school...wheter they like it or not..."

Ryan nodded, seeing he wasn't going to change the guys views. "I know you are Cec, I know. But your life is a good enough reason. You say you'd help others out by humbling someone- saving yourself from getting killed would be helping others. I don't think you realise just how many people care about you, and just how much they do." This was accompanied by an agreement from Dawn, who spoke then.

"I hate the guy. He actually killed one of my own family members, though Ryan gives excuses we both know it's because my great grandfather gave the Daily Mail some news about Mr. Parker. But I still don't stand against him- you see me bowing and everything? Exactly. I do that so I don't get killed, though he'd have a hard time getting through me." She said fiercly.
"And me." Added Ryan, causing Dawn to smile at him lovingly, thanking him with her eyes.

Cecil smiled at the two. "Ryan...I just can't do it. It would be like...helping Malfoy with his homework...I just can't do it...no matter how much he would like me to." he stated with a shrug. "I know people would morn my death...but they'll be able to move on without me...only reason I'll EVER humble myself is if one of my friends were on the line."

Ryan nodded. Good guy, Cecil. But Ryan wasn't sure- he knew people who just put that on, but would gladly sell their friend's for a doughnut if that chance came up. Still holding Dawn's hands in his own he winced as a small smile made his cheek hurt badly, the slap still reddened. Yawning, then finding out this hurt too much as well, Ryan pulled a face at his empty coffee. "Well y'know.. I'd get some more but there's this whole stuck-in-a-bed-with-casts-for-legs businnes. Bit hard... one of you guys?"
Dawn, being the helpful person she was, shot a little glance towards Cecil, hinting in that one look.

"Gladly." he stated, not even needing Dawn's glance to take the cup and go refill it for his friend. "Dawn, you need a refill while I'm at it?" he asked as he downed his own semi-cold coffee in a few gulps.

Dawn grinned. "Thanks, but I'm good without for now." She poured her leftover cold coffee down the chipped sink and threw the cup in the bin, smiling slightly as it went in from her long distance. She returned to Ryan's bedside and slipped her hands into his again, chuckling as he made a mock-wince sound to the movement.

Cecil bowed slightly and left the room, walking slowly to give Ryan and Dawn some time alone as he fetched the coffee. He even stopped to read some interesting posters on the way there.
